Cabfix Ladies FC have taken another significant step in promoting menstrual health and girls’ empowerment, following a visit by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Jerod Kabu, to Cable and Wireless Junior High School in Bubuashie, where Softcare sanitary pads were donated to girls actively involved in sports.
The initiative forms part of the club’s ongoing nationwide outreach programme aimed at supporting young female athletes, especially those at the grassroots level. Some players of Cabfix Ladies FC are former or current students of the school, making the visit both impactful and symbolic as the club gave back to a community that continues to nurture future football talents.
During the engagement, the sanitary pads were presented to female students who participate in various sporting disciplines, with emphasis on encouraging them to stay confident, focused, and active in both education and sports without the challenges associated with menstrual hygiene.
The visit builds on Cabfix Ladies’ earlier menstrual health interventions, which began after the club received consignments of Softcare sanitary pads through the government’s Free Sanitary Pad for Girls in Schools initiative. As reported previously, the club had received an initial 100 boxes presented on behalf of the Office of the Vice President, followed by an additional 200 boxes to expand its nationwide distribution drive.
In a strong show of leadership and solidarity, Cabfix Ladies extended the first batch beyond their own team, supporting clubs in the FIFA U-15 Girls Regional Colts League across the Greater Accra, Eastern, Northern, and Upper West Regions, as well as teams in the Greater Accra Regional Football Association Women’s Division One League.
Speaking during the visit, CEO Jerod Kabu reiterated the club’s commitment to using football as a platform to empower girls and address key social issues affecting female athletes. He encouraged the students to remain dedicated to their education while pursuing their sporting dreams, assuring them of continued support from the club.
The outreach aligns with the national policy officially launched by John Dramani Mahama on April 24, 2025, in Mamprobi, Accra, which seeks to ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to education, sports, or productivity among girls.
The colourful event at Cable and Wireless JHS was marked by interactions with students, motivational messages, and renewed hope among the young beneficiaries, further strengthening Cabfix Ladies’ growing reputation as a socially responsible club committed to the holistic development of women’s football in Ghana.
