South Africa an Egypt were the only nations that submitted formal bid to host the competition after Cameroon were stripped of rights to host last year November.

Egypt have previously hosted the Africa Cup of Nations four times 1959, 1974 and 2006. They have managed to win three of the competitions they have hosted.

Egypt will have six months to prepare for the competition.
