Bournemouth manager, Andoni Iraola refutes Semenyo injury claims by media

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has clarified the reasons behind forward Antoine Semenyo’s substitution during the team’s recent 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.

Contrary to initial concerns regarding Semenyo’s fitness, Iraola stated that the decision to replace the 24-year-old was purely tactical and not due to any injury issues.

Despite Semenyo’s notable contributions with three goals and two assists in 18 league appearances this season, he was substituted at half-time, leading to speculation about a potential injury.

However, Iraola addressed the matter in a post-game press conference, affirming, “No injury. It was a tactical decision. He could have continued,” dispelling any doubts about Semenyo’s physical well-being.

This clarification mirrored a similar scenario involving Ryan Christie, underscoring that the decisions taken were strategic rather than influenced by player injuries.
