Borussia Dortmund have finalized the signing of Sébastien Haller on a four-year deal from Ajax Amsterdam.

The Ivorian international joins the club after his most prolific season yet in Ajax’s colors, netting a total of 34 goals and assisting 49 times.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham striker join Borussia Dortmund as the club’s replacement for Erling Haaland. The signing of Haller is very different from the type of deal Dortmund usually look to pursue; namely, he is a player in his prime rather than a young talent yet to be molded into a future star.

Alongside newcomer Karim Adeyemi and Dutch international Donyell Malen, Haller will be charged with leading the line for the Ruhr club as they seek to mount a challenge against Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title next season.

Sébastien Haller said that he is looking forward to playing in front of more than 80,000 fans at the Signal Iduna Park and leading Borussia Dortmund to success.

”I can’t wait to feel the support of over 80,000 spectators as part of the BVB family in the future. Together, I hope that we will be able to achieve great things in the coming years and also celebrate together.”
