Ghana’s national U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, will face Uganda in the decisive fourth round of the African qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, with both sides battling for a place at the global showpiece.
The two-legged encounter is scheduled for May 1–3, 2026, for the first leg, with the return fixture set for May 8–10, 2026. Ghana will be aiming to secure qualification after an impressive run in the campaign so far.
The Black Princesses booked their spot in the final round after edging South Africa 3-2 on aggregate. Ghana secured a vital 1-0 victory away in Mbombela on February 14, 2026, thanks to a second-half strike from Priscilla Mensah in the 63rd minute after she came on to replace Mary Amponsah.
The result proved decisive following an earlier 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Uganda, meanwhile, progressed after eliminating Zambia 2-1 on aggregate. The East Africans drew 1-1 at home before recording a crucial 1-0 away win to seal qualification, setting up what promises to be a highly competitive tie against Ghana.
The 2026 edition of the tournament will be staged in Poland from September 5 to 27, marking the 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The winner of the Ghana-Uganda clash will therefore secure one of Africa’s slots at the global competition.
With a place at the World Cup at stake, the Black Princesses will be hoping to build on their experience, tactical discipline, and attacking strength to overcome the Ugandans. The technical team is expected to intensify preparations in the coming weeks as Ghana targets another appearance on the global stage.
