Black Princesses defeated Guinea Bissau 3-0 in the first leg of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

In the first leg of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Bissau, Ghana’s female U-20 team, also known as the Black Princesses, secured a 3-0 victory against Guinea Bissau.

Success Ameyaa, Mary Amponsah, and Mercy Attobra each contributed with goals, giving the Princesses a lead after the first leg.

Although the Black Princesses dominated early in the game, they initially struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. In the 11th minute, a pass from Helen Alormemu reached Mary Amponsah, but she was flagged offside.

Success Ameyaa made a pivotal contribution just before halftime, scoring from a free kick in the 45th minute, giving Ghana the lead as they entered the break.

After the break, Mary Amponsah was fouled in the penalty box, but Comfort Yeboah was unable to convert from the spot kick.

Undeterred, Mary Amponsah further extended the lead in the 67th minute with a well-coordinated team effort. Later, substitute Mercy Attobra, who came on for Fatimata Fuseini, proved to be instrumental, scoring in the 77th minute, solidifying Ghana’s lead over Guinea Bissau.

The Black Princesses maintained their advantage to secure a 3-0 victory. The return fixture is set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
