Ghanaian youngster Jessica Appiah Asamoah marked her return to domestic football after representing the Black Maidens at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with an early goal for Epiphany Warriors against Hasaacas Ladies in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League.

The forward needed just three minutes to make her mark in the Matchday Three encounter at the Madina Astro Turf, giving Epiphany Warriors an early lead against the two-time league champions.

Jessica received the ball in a wide attacking position before using her pace to get past her marker and drive towards goal. She then calmly slotted the ball into the far post to put Epiphany ahead in an impressive individual effort.

However, Hasaacas Ladies fought back through Belinda Kpoglo, who converted two penalties in the 20th and 31st minutes to turn the game around and give the visitors a 2-1 advantage.

Despite Epiphany’s efforts to get back into the contest, Hasaacas held on to secure all three points and maintain their perfect start to the 2026/27 league campaign.

The victory means Hasaacas Ladies have now recorded three wins from their opening three matches, taking their points tally to nine.

For Epiphany Warriors, the defeat leaves them with two draws and one loss from their first three league fixtures.

Although her side failed to secure a positive result, Jessica’s early strike provided a memorable moment on her first appearance following Ghana’s campaign at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

GARFA Women’s Division One: Sarah Humble Ayimedu begins Cabfix Ladies tenure with 2-0 victory over Ideal Ladies

Published

on

Cabfix Ladies head coach Sarah Humble Ayimedu has recorded her first victory since taking charge of the club, guiding the team to a 2-0 win over Ideal Ladies in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 GARFA Women’s Division One League season.

Appointed ahead of the new campaign, Ayimedu got her tenure off to a winning start as Cabfix Ladies claimed all three points at the Accra Academy Park.

Cabfix opened the scoring through a long throw-in from a player popularly known as Martha. Her delivery caused problems for Ideal Ladies goalkeeper Abinah Jessiwah Asuman, who failed to handle the ball as it found its way into the net.

The home side doubled its advantage in the second half through Jessica Benni. A throw-in from Beatrice Ati, taken from close to the corner area, found Benni, who quickly directed the ball towards goal from distance to make it 2-0.

Despite conceding twice, Ideal Ladies goalkeeper Abinah Jessiwah Asuman delivered an impressive performance, producing several important saves to deny Cabfix Ladies and prevent a heavier defeat for her side. Her display was particularly notable given the number of scoring opportunities created by the visitors.

Speaking after the match, an excited Ayimedu expressed satisfaction with the victory and the three points but admitted that her team could have scored more goals.

The coach pointed to the numerous chances created by her players, while acknowledging that their failure to convert several opportunities meant they missed the chance to record a more convincing scoreline.

She promised supporters an improved performance in the next outing, with the team determined to deliver more goals.

Cabfix Ladies will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Sissamba Ladies, who are set to visit them in their next league assignment.

The encounter presents another important test for Ayimedu and her players, particularly as Sissamba have historically been a difficult opponent for Cabfix Ladies.

Having opened her tenure with a victory, the coach will be hoping to build momentum and guide her team to another positive result.
