Asante Kotoko head coach Mariano Barreto has revealed why he exiled defender Yusif Mubarik from the club’s first team.

Barreto paired Mubarik and Abdul Gnaiyu in the defence in the first few weeks at the club before promoting Andrews Appau to the first team to replace Mubarik.

“I have been coaching for thirty-two years, I have never seen a player train with a phone in his hand, it doesn’t happen anywhere in the world,” Barreto told Nhyira FM

“I don’t think Kotoko fans missed Mubarik, I don’t think anyone missed him on the pitch,” he added.

Mariano Barreto’s future at Kotoko is still unsure amidst reports that he could leave Kotoko at the end of the season.
