Ghanaian and Black Queens midfielder Sherifatu Sumalia has admitted that there is a certain amount of pressure on them as hosts of the AWCON and that is in a way affecting their play.

Sherifatu was speaking after the Black Queens lost their first game to Mali. They created a lot of chances but failed to convert. “I think we played better here than we did against Algeria but I just don’t know why we couldn’t win this game”, she said.

“There’s a lot of expectations from the fans and there’s a lot of pressure and when we get there we just want to score and make everybody happy but we end up wasting the chances”, she added.

“The pressure is not negative but pressure is just pressure.” She went on to criticize the referee for some controversial calls which she believed cost them the game.

Ghana now have it all to to in their final game against Cameroon with nothing less than 3 points needed to move to the next round of the tournament.
