Ghana FA marks 19th anniversary of May 9 The Ghana Football Association has released a press statement to commemorate the 19th anniversary of Africa’s worst stadium disaster.  On May 9th 2001, 127 lives were lost at the Accra Sports Stadium after a stampede in a Premier League game between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
