Augustine Boakye makes Austrian Bundesliga Team of the Week

Augustine Boakye’s outstanding display in Wolfsberger AC’s matchday seven fixture has rightfully earned him a spot in Sofascore’s Team of the Week.

Formerly with WAFA, Boakye played a crucial role in Wolfsberger AC’s exhilarating 3-3 draw against Rapid Wien in the Austrian top-flight league. He was notably part of the starting lineup, demonstrating his skills throughout the entire 90 minutes.

The game kicked off with Wolfsberger AC displaying a potent offensive presence, generating promising half-chances early on, courtesy of players like Bamba and Boakye, though they were unable to find the back of the net.

Around the 30th minute, the hosts claimed a 1-0 lead with a skillful goal by Fally Mayulu after a mishap by Tijani. Rapid Wien extended their lead in the 41st minute through Leopold Querfeld. However, a pivotal moment arrived when a Rapid defender received a red card for a foul, resulting in Mohamed Bamba converting a penalty in the 69th minute, equalizing the score at 2-1.

In an exhilarating sequence, Bamba netted once more, leveling the game at 2-2 in the 76th minute with a header assisted by Boakye. In the 84th minute, Hütteldorfers regained the lead with a header by Moormann, putting the score at 3-2.

The match concluded with high drama as Thomas Sabitzer scored in added time, salvaging his team from what appeared to be an impending defeat.

Boakye’s exceptional performance unquestionably earned him a well-deserved spot in Sofascore’s Team of the Week, leaving fans eagerly anticipating more stellar contributions from this gifted player in future matches.
