Athletic Bilbao confirm Inaki Williams is suffering from an illness

Athletic Bilbao has announced that their forward, Inaki Williams, is currently unwell, causing a postponement in his expected arrival at the Ghanaian camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

While initially slated to join the team in Kumasi by January 2, 2023, Williams will now join them at a later date due to health reasons.

Athletic Club confirmed the situation, stating, “Inaki Williams, an Athletic Club player, underwent medical evaluation today at Lezama and is unwell, necessitating rest and treatment.

He will be reassessed tomorrow with hopes of joining the Ghana training camp soon. The Ghanaian federation’s medical team has been updated about his health.”

Despite this setback, Williams, named in Chris Hughton’s final 27-player Ghana squad for AFCON 2023, is anticipated to link up with the squad upon his recovery.

This forthcoming AFCON will mark Williams’ inaugural appearance in the tournament since debuting for Ghana in 2022.
