Asante Kotoko not interested in the services of Maxwell Konadu

Nana Kwasi Gyambibi (Coker), Personal Assistant to Executive Chairmen, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has revealed that the club has no plans of hiring former coach Maxwell Konadu.

Several reports are suggesting that Management of Asante Kotoko are considering replacing Kjetil Zachariassen with current Black Stars B coach Maxwell Konadu but Mr. Coker has debunked these reports and stories stating that the decision to sign Johnson Smith as the Assistant Coach is not influenced by the said report.

Johnson Smith, an Assistant Coach in 2007 and Caretaker Coach in 2008, completed his third Kotoko coming with a two-year contract on Friday to become the club’s new Assistant Coach.

“There is no truth in the rumored move for Maxwell Konadu.” Coker refutes. “I think when it became a rumor that we were edging close to signing Johnson Smith, people also had the idea that the move was geared at hiring a new Coach for Johnson to be his Assistant which was never in our plan,” he said.

“Moreover, we weren’t considering who will be the Head Coach. We felt that the Assistant Coach area needed a beef up, and that is what we have done. We are hoping he works hard for the progress of Kotoko” he added.
