Asante Kotoko coach CK Akonnor says Fatawu’s absence won’t cost the team

CK Akonnor believes that the absence of Kotoko’s top scorer in the Special Competition won’t affect the team, he is confident that other players will step up.

The talented forward was included in Kwesi Appiah’s 29-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations alongside his teammate Felix Annan, both players will travel with the Balck Stars squad to Dubai on the 1st of June to begin preparations.

Abdul Fatawu has been an important player for Asante Kotoko in the Special Competition, he has registered eight goals so far in the competition.

Speaking to Light FM, CK Akonnor believes the player’s absence won’t affect the team and hopes his players make the final squad for the tournament.

“Fatawu’s absence won’t cost us. I am praying he doesn’t come back and continue to help Black Stars win the AFCON in Egypt, “said Akonnor on Light FM.
