Asante Kotoko coach boss Mariano Barreto was criticized for playing defensively in their 1-0 defeat against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

The Porcupines barely created many chances against Hearts and had only a few shots on target, but Mariano Barreto defended his style of play against Hearts of Oak.

“It was because of the way Hearts play; the paly in long balls to the back; we had to fall back because they are putting in long balls and they have speedy players,” he said

“We didn’t play like that because we want; we play because of the style of the other teams, we also went up against the Hearts defence too. So it’s the game” he added.

Mariano Barreto suffers his second defeat as Kotoko boss and will be looking to bounce back when they host King Faisal in Obuasi next matchday.
