Asante Kotoko CEO George Amoako all but confirms CK Akonnor’s departure

George Amoako says management will not renege on its efforts to improve the Asante Kotoko technical team.

The Asante Kotoko Chief Executive officer (CEO) insists that every decision they take on the coaching department is geared at responding to the lessons picked during the club’s last CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Rumours emerged on Wednesday that Asante Kotoko had sacked coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor.

The development has been met with mixed reactions from the sports fraternity.

George Amoako, though not confirming the rumour, maintains that management would not be bothered by the jabs from people over decisions they take to improve the team.

“We need to enhance our technical capabilities, but people have begun throwing bombs.”

“Whether they throw bombs or not, we will have to do the right thing and get the performance of this team improved. This is key, and we are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that.”

“I spoke a lot after our African campaign and told the world about the lessons we learned. I said we would learn from those lessons. People should not throw bombs if we are addressing those lessons.”
