Black stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed why he never signed for EPL side Manchester City in 2008 after the Cup of Nations in Ghana.

Gyan was speaking on the “Fire for Fire” show on Adom TV when he revealed  that he was offered a deal by the current English giants in 2008 and was inches from signing only for him to aggravate an injury during the CAN 2008 tournament.

The deal was subsequently aborted and never went through. Gyan who turned 33 today has had a stellar career since that incident; playing for Sunderland in 2010 and going on to accomplish amazing goal scoring records with Al-Ain.

He remains Africa’s highest goal scorer in the world cup and also Ghana’s all time goal scorer with 51 goals. Gyan has faced some criticism in recent times with many calling for his exclusion from the national team fold since he has been struggling for playing time at his club side Kayserispor.
