Ghana’s Alidu Seidu  provides assist  in Clermont Foot’s league opener against As Monaco.

Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu registered his first goal contribution of the season as Clermont Foot faced defeat in their initial Ligue 1 match against AS Monaco.

The right-back for the Black Stars, who has been drawing attention from Lille, was included in the starting lineup for Clermont Foot’s home game, which ended in a 4-2 loss against Mohammed Salisu’s AS Monaco.

Clermont Foot began the match brightly as Mateusz Wieteska managed to score just seven minutes into the game.

However, the response from the formidable French team came via Vanderson, followed by Wissam Ben Yedder’s goal that handed Monaco the lead just two minutes before halftime.

In the second half, Seidu played a pivotal role in setting up Muhammed-Cham Saracevic for the equalizing goal. Nevertheless, Ben Yedder regained Monaco’s lead with twenty minutes left on the clock.

Despite Clermont Foot’s efforts to level the score, AS Monaco managed to extend their lead deep into injury time, courtesy of Maghnes Akliouche.

Notably, Seidu’s compatriot and Black Stars teammate, Mohammed Salisu, was not part of the squad for this match. Additionally, Myron Boadu, a Ghanaian-born player from the Netherlands, came on as a late substitute for Monaco during the game.
