    Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Hasaacas Ladies Captain Janet Egyir has been awarded as the best Home-Based footballer for the year 2021 by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).



    Afriyie Barnieh was named local  Footballer of the Year at the 46th SWAG Awards on Friday night.

    The striker captained the Black Satellites to win the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in March and has played a significant role for Hearts of Oak to win their first Ghana Premier League title in 12 years.

    Dreams FC attacking midfielder Fatawu Issahaku, U20 Africa Cup of Nations Best Player was also awarded discovery of the year



    Hasaacas Ladies captain Janet Egyir won the Female Footballer of the Year award while Yussif Basigi was crowned best coach in Ghana after claiming quadruple trophy in a season, Hasaacas ladies were crowned football team of the year.

    Ajax Star, Kudus Mohammed beat Leceister City’s Daniel Amartey and Columbus Crew Captain Jonathan Mensah to win Foreign Base Player of the year.

    Olympic Medalists, Samuel Takyi also took home sports personality of the year and Boxer of the year.

    Benjamin Azamati and Deborah Acquah are the athletes of the year 2021.
