    AFCON 2019: Ghana beat Guinea-Bissau to qualify for next round

    Ghana Black Stars have qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 after beating Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in their last group game.




    The two goals were scored by Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey.

    Guinea-Bisssau’s penalty shout was overlooked by the referee after Joseph Aidoo stepped on the toes of a Guinea-Bissau player.

    Piqueti came close to scoring for Guinea-Bissau but his thunderous effort was punched onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

    Jordan Ayew saw his effort hit the post in the 36th minute after a great strike, Adre Ayew failed the make most of the rebound as the ball was cleared away by the Guinea-Bissau defence.



    The first half finished 0-0 with both teams hitting the post.

    Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock a minute into the second half after dazzling through the Guniea-Bissau defence to put Ghana in front.

    Thomas Partey scored Ghana’s second goal in the 72nd minute after tapping in Baba Rahman’s low cross to put Ghana in a commanding position.

    Cameroon and Benin game ended 0-0 meaning Ghana go into the next round as group leaders.
