Adjah Tetteh lauds Emmanuel Osei Kuffour as the best to ever grace the GHPL

This week has witnessed an endless debate as to who is the best footballer to have played in the Ghanaian Premier League.

Several players have had their fair share of opinions, with some suggesting a host of other players as the best of all time.

However Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Lawrence Adjah Tetteh has joined the bandwagon in suggesting that his former teammate Emmanuel Osei Kuffour is the best player to have ever graced the Ghana Premier League.

Kuffour’s contribution to the Accra based side was one that couldn’t be underestimated.

In his playing days with Accra Hearts of Oak, he masterminded an impressive streak of local and continental titles.

He won six league titles, conquering Africa to win the CAF Champions League, Super Cup, and the Confederation Cup.

His ability to pick out a pass, shoot from long ranges, the free-kick scoring technique behind the ball, control the game in the heart of midfield earned him unwavering praise from his compatriots as well as the name ‘General’ during his stint with the Rainbow club.

In a recent interview captain Adjah Tetteh, was full of praise for his former colleague.

“If we talk about the Ghana Premier League, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour has no match.”

“He was a mercurial maniac who inspired average players to become good ones and turn mediocre teams to world-beaters. He even coached us on the field of play.”

Kuffour featured 31 times for Ghana and was a member of the Black Stars team at both the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and also featured in the 1996 Summer Olympics football tournament in Atlanta.

He played for sides like FC Anzhi Makhachkala, Tractor Sazi; Ashantigold SC, Asante Kotoko SC, Power FC, Al- Ittihad Tripoli and a return to Ebusua Dwarfs followed before hanging his boots.
