Accra Lions coach Ibrahim Tanko concerned about his side’s defensive lapses after loss to Great Olympics

Ibrahim Tanko, the head coach of Accra Lions, expressed his dissatisfaction following his team’s defeat to Great Olympics in the city derby of the Ghana Premier League on Monday.

During the match, Olympics swiftly secured three goals to overcome Lions, with Michael Yeboah scoring twice and Emmanuel Antwi adding the final goal.

In the post-match interview, Tanko acknowledged his team’s subpar performance and attributed the loss to errors, while also giving credit to Olympics for their impressive display.

He remarked, “Our performance was notably subpar, particularly in the first half, where two mistakes proved costly. It’s disheartening, but Olympics rightfully earned the victory.”

Tanko voiced his apprehensions about the team’s defense and emphasized the necessity for ongoing training to rectify the issues.

“I’m troubled by our defensive vulnerabilities, but we recognize the need for dedicated training. We must persist in our efforts and trust that improvements will come.”

He maintains a positive outlook, believing that the team will regain their winning form in the upcoming match against Real Tamale United.
