The prestigious tournament, being held as part of activities marking MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary, promises a day of competitive golf, networking and celebration as some of the country’s finest golfers take to the course for an 18-hole challenge.

The ceremonial tee-off is scheduled for 8:00 a.m., setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested tournament, with golfers battling not only for honours but also for the pride and prestige associated with one of the major corporate golf events on the calendar.

Beyond the competition, the tournament reflects the deeper values that make golf a unique sport. The game demands exceptional mental focus, discipline and resilience, as players must remain composed, make calculated decisions and recover from setbacks throughout the 18 holes.

Golf also places a premium on integrity and personal responsibility, with players expected to uphold the rules and spirit of the game even when no official is watching. Its emphasis on problem-solving and strategic thinking further makes every hole a fresh test of judgement, patience and adaptability.

The Achimota course is therefore expected to provide more than just a sporting challenge. The tournament will create an opportunity for business leaders, corporate executives and golfers to strengthen social connections, build relationships and explore new networking opportunities in a relaxed environment.

Inclusivity and camaraderie will also be central to the experience, bringing together golfers from different clubs and backgrounds in the spirit of healthy competition and mutual respect.

As MTN Ghana celebrates three decades of connecting people, businesses and communities, the CEO Invitational Golf Tournament provides another platform to celebrate the relationships that have contributed to that journey.

But with 120 golfers expected on the course, the big question is: who will master the Achimota challenge, keep their nerve when the pressure mounts, and emerge as the standout golfer of MTN’s 30th anniversary celebration?

The answers will unfold over 18 holes on Saturday, September 12, when the ceremonial tee-off launches what promises to be a memorable day of golf, competition, networking, and celebration.

MMFL Unleashes Foreign Coaching Firepower for Joy Sports Invitational https://www.saharafootball.net/mmfl-unleashes-foreign-coaching-firepower-for-joy-sports-invitational/ https://www.saharafootball.net/mmfl-unleashes-foreign-coaching-firepower-for-joy-sports-invitational/#respond Fri, 28 Aug 2026 19:37:42 +0000 https://www.saharafootball.net/?p=47147 MobileMoney Fintech Limited (MMFL) is ready to make a statement at the 2026 Joy Sports Invitational Tournament, with the company deploying foreign coaching expertise as it targets a dominant showing across the various sporting disciplines.
MMFL will join a number of corporate organisations at the tournament scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the University of Ghana Stadium, but the fintech company is not approaching the competition as a mere corporate fun day.
Determined to compete for honours, MMFL has invested in its preparations by bringing in foreign coaches to provide technical direction to its various teams, a move that has injected additional confidence and competitive intensity into the camp.
The company will compete in Men’s Soccer, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Female Penalty Shoot-Out, Unisex Sack Race, Tug of Peace, Lime and Spoon Relay and the CEO’s Penalty Shoot-Out.
The biggest attraction for MMFL could be its Men’s Soccer campaign, where the team faces Virtual Security Africa in what promises to be a highly competitive encounter.
With its players benefiting from structured preparations and expert technical guidance, MMFL believes it has assembled a team capable of going all the way.
An MMFL official said the company had deliberately raised the bar in its preparations and would not be satisfied with simply taking part.
“We are coming to compete, and we are coming to win. The preparations have been very deliberate, and bringing in foreign coaches demonstrates how seriously we are taking this tournament. We have talented people, we have worked on our strategy and we are ready for the challenge,” the official said.
According to the official, MMFL’s participation is also about creating an opportunity for staff to build stronger bonds outside the workplace while demonstrating the same values of teamwork, discipline and excellence that drive the company’s operations.
“We respect every organisation participating, but when the whistle goes, there will be no friendships on the field. We are ready to take the tournament by storm and make sure MMFL’s presence is felt in every discipline we enter,” the official added.
The company’s preparations have generated considerable excitement among staff, with teams across the various disciplines eager to translate their training into results on competition day.
For the MMFL football team, the assignment against Virtual Security Africa will provide an immediate test of its ambitions.
The fintech company is therefore heading into Saturday’s competition with one clear objective — to compete hard, win big and leave the University of Ghana Stadium with its reputation as one of the tournament’s strongest corporate sporting outfits firmly established.

Asanko Mines in talks with Kotoko to take over MTN as headline sponsors https://www.saharafootball.net/asanko-mines-talks-kotoko-take-mtn-headline-sponsors/ https://www.saharafootball.net/asanko-mines-talks-kotoko-take-mtn-headline-sponsors/#comments Fri, 30 Aug 2019 10:31:21 +0000 http://www.saharafootball.net/?p=22702 Asanko Mines in talks with Kotoko to take over MTN as headline sponsors

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are set to receive a bumper sponsorship package from Asanko Mines as talks between the two parties are far advanced.

As reported by Oyerepa Sports in April 2019 about a possible partnership between Asanko mines and  Asante Kotoko, further reports indicate that the two parties have reached advance stages of their negotiations where the mining company wants to become headline sponsors of the Kumasi based team to take over from MTN Ghana.

Our investigations have revealed that Asanko Gold Mine is ready to pay more than what MTN pays to Kotoko so they are advertised on the front space of the porcupines’ jersey.

A source at Asanko Gold tells Oyerepa Sports a meeting held earlier this week between officials of Kotoko and Asanko was fruitful as they await a confirmation from Kotoko to agree to make them the headline sponsors of the club because they are ready to pay twice what the current headline sponsors pay for Kotoko.

Communication giants MTN are the current headline sponsors of Asante Kotoko.
