Ghana Premier League lovers were treated with lots of love on Friday as a late kickoff to usher other matches of the weekend in the ongoing season was played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

To kick-start this weekend’s fixtures, Legon Cities were at home to Medeama SC. Both sides had a sole objective of winning the tie as such the away side were the first to make their intentions really known as they began the early exchanges creating a plethora of chances but failed to utilize, once Prince Agyemang was teed up by a teammate he didn’t disappoint scoring from close range in the 12 minutes before adding the clubs second goal marking his 10th and 11th goals in the ongoing league season. The win lifts them to the 1st on the log with 30 points damping Legon Cities with 16 points.

The top liner of match week 15 failed to produce any match-winner as Bechem welcomed fellow competitors Aduana Stars to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Both clubs will be highly disappointed by the scoreline knowing that the three points was there for the taking. Lots of chances were created by them but it ended in a bore draw. The draw leaves Bechem and Aduana occupying 8th and 2nd positions respectively.

In other games that were played, Berekum Chelsea were left gnashing their teeth as they fell flat and hard at home to WAFA by 2-1. Ibrahim Abubakar and Eric Asamany were on the score sheet with a consolation from Stephen Amankonah. The home side were on a high after winning their midweek clash at home but the away side on the back of losing a midweek fixture needed to get their season back on track, which they lived up to expect much to the delight of Headacoah Prosper Narteh and his fans. The results see them with 22 points and 7th on the log whiles Berekum Chelsea will maintain their 3rd position but 4 points adrift current leaders Medeama.

The Ohene Ameyaw Park saw, home side Eleven Wonders failing to capitalize on their home court advantage when they drew 1-1 with visiting Ebusua Dwarfs. Sulley Ibrahim shot the home side in front to send the fans into a frenzy but the away side kept probing and creating multiple chances with paid off much to the happiness of the traveling fans. Adams Moro pulled the away side level. In the end, both sides had to share the spoils, Interestingly, Eleven Wonders are 11th on the log whiles Ebusua Dwarfs are battling relegation.

The fine form of Elmina Sharks under Yaw Acheampong needs plaudits as they continued their impressive streak dispatching struggling Dreams FC at the Ndoum Stadium. A brace from Augustine Owusu was enough to secure the points for the Sharks, a consolation from Suleman Mohammed was not enough for the “Still Believe boys”, who are yet to lose a game in their last six outings in the league, whiles Dreams FC are still battling to get things going their way, this loss sees them drop to 13th on the log with 16 points.

On the back of losing away to Samuel Boadu’s Medeama, Accra Great Olympics responded in fantastic fashion posting a 2-1  victory over city rivals Liberty Professionals in the derby at the Accra Sports Stadium. Both sides had lost their prior match, Olympics were heavily battered by Hearts of Oak in midweek and needed to wake up from their slumber whiles Liberty narrowly lost at home to Inter Allies. An Elvis Kyei-Baffour penalty was not enough to cancel out goals from Michael Quaye and Razak Yusif. This win buoys Olympics to 12th on the log with 17 points to Liberty’s 16 points.

A week of double trouble for Obuasi based Ashanti Gold didn’t deter Thomas Duah and his charges as they travel far away to Tarkwa to pickup 3 maximum points from the den of Karela United. Karela shot ahead through Diawisie Taylor before late goals from Benedict Webona and Ibrahim Sameed saw the away side pick up all points back to Obuasi. The results see them cede their 5th position to Elmina Sharks as they lie 6th Karela will wonder hit them as they are still trying to pitch results their way scrabbling with relegation as things stand.

Ghana Premier League lovers got an amazing treat as football came early on Friday to usher other matches of the weekend in the ongoing season.

To kick-start these weekend’s fixtures, Karela United fans were left disappointed after full-time proceedings when Kumasi Asante Kotoko put one past them at the Akoon Community Park. The home side needed to win to push themselves up the log but the away side riding on new-found confidence after beating Bechem United knew they had to give everything to get the three points as a Mensah Wellington goal was all but enough to guarantee all maximum points boasting them up to 3rd on the log with Karela languishing in a relegation scramble.

Elsewhere, Legon Cities put up a rather shocking but amazing performance when they battered WAFA at home by a four-goal margin. The home side having drawn last weekend fixture had the sole objective of winning. They brought their A-game to the pitch smashing a WAFA side who in less than a week battered the then table toppers, Ashgold by a whopping six goals at the Red Bull Arena. The Royals fired through, a brace from Cephas Doku, and one each from Nii Addy Ebenezer and Fadilli Yussif but a consolation through Agyepong Samson came too late to impact the scoreline. The home side will build on this momentum lifting them up to 11th with 16 points leaving 7th with 19th as well.

Ghana Premier League: Elmina Sharks cruise past Liberty

Meanwhile, Elmina Sharks have found a good mojo and it’s definitely working for them. They continued their fine fortunes yet again this afternoon after putting Dansoman based Liberty Professionals in their place by 3 – 1. Tweneboah Benjamin, Alhaji Mustapha, and Owusu Augustine were all on the score sheet for the home side whiles a Mubarak Alhassan consolation came a little too late to provide any sort of competition for the home side. This sees them up to 6th on the table.

On the back of losing away to Samuel Boadu’s Medeama, Accra Great Olympics responded in fantastic fashion posting a two-goal victory over fellow strugglers Ebusua Dwarfs. Both sides prior to this duel had accumulated the same number of points only separated by a position,15 and 16th respectively. But it was the Dade boys who made sure their home superiority counted when goals from Maxwell Quaye and Philip Sackey did the magic for them as they returned to winning ways shooting them a position above the drop zone.

Ghana Premier League: Medeama held by King Faisal

Bottom placed King Faisal and Medeama SC battled each other again. Both sides had different objectives riding into this fixture. The full throttle of the match ended as both clubs drew blank, Ibrahim Osman and Prince Opoku Agyemang failed to get on the score sheet with the match ending in a bore draw. This draw lifts Medeama to the summit of the table pending other fixtures further dumping King Faisal into the relegation scramble.

Former Ghanaian Premier League champions, Aduana Stars and Ashgold shared the spoils in a keenly contested encounter. Both sides knew the three maximum points will do them a world of good but none of them fancied their chances enough to walk out victorious after the full match proceedings. This result helps Aduana Stars to the summit leaving the miners a position below the top four.

Elsewhere, Bechem United failed to make their home venue advantage at the Nana Gyeabour Park count as they played out a goalless draw with Dreams. Coach Danso’s men were coming into this match after losing to the Kotoko away, but failed to know to win this duel against “Still Believe”.Both clubs occupy the 9th and 14th positions respectively after the bore draw.

Meanwhile, a Musa Sule goal proved vital as Eleven Wonders picked up all three points against Berekum Chelsea at the Ohene Ameyaw Park. The home side were unbeaten in their last four games and made sure they added to their already accrued points. This win spurs them on to 10th with 18 points whiles this loss marks the fourth for title-chasing Berekum Chelsea, who will have to regroup and come back stronger if they are to have a sniff at the league.

The Accra Sports Stadium failed to produce any match-winner as Inter Allies and Hearts of Oak went at each other. Both sides poised for game action gave fans an interesting spectacle but it was the home side going ahead early in the game as sensational Victorien Adebayor dribbled past two players to assist, Samuel Armah, who handed the Cappelli boys the lead before Mohammed Alhassan restored the Phobia’s to parity from a resulting corner in the dying embers of the game. The draw leaves both sides occupying 13th with Hearts of Oak 8th eyeing a victory against Olympics in the next one.

The midweek phase of Ghana Premier League match week 11 didn’t disappoint as clubs keenly contested this afternoon, most home teams gave their supporters their money’s worth but others flattered to deceive sending their fans home with spots of sadness on their faces.

Eleven Wonders saw their home dominance halted as they shared the spoils with WAFA. They failed to continue their streak of winning twice out three matches they had battled the away side as well as their home advantage. Musa Sule scored first for the host before Eric Asamany drew the away side parity later on in the game. Both sides had to settle for a point each, thus Eleven Wonders moving to 12th with 14 points whiles the away side occupy the 7th spot with 16 points.

Obuasi based Ashanti Gold maintain their spot at the summit of the table after beating Dawu outfit Dreams FC by a solitary Ibrahim Abubakari own goal. Dreams may feel hurt considering how gallantly they matches the miners in all departments of the game. It was a game looking like ending in a draw but a mistimed kick from Ibrahim Abubakari ended up in his net gifting the home side the victory on the day. Dreams FC drop to 10th on the log with 14 points.

The top liner of this midweek happened at the infamous Nana Agyemang Badu Park, where two former champions of the Ghana Premier League locked horns. Both sides were poised for this match action but the home side proved their mettle against the Porcupine Warriors through a Samuel Bioh goal. The home side dominated the early exchanges before the away side grew in confidence creating multiple chances but failed to convert. This win sees Aduana reclaim their second spot at the expense of Kotoko who drop to 4th with 18 points after 11 matches in the ongoing domestic league.

To beat former league leaders, Berekum Chelsea at home may be considered a fluke but to travel far away Medeama SC,Tarkwa and to return to Elmina unscathed is a big achievement, and to top it up with a home victory in a regional derby is more sweeter than the berry. A Benjamin Bernard Boateng goal marking his 7th in 11 matches helped the Sharks to the finish line boasting them up to 5th in 17 points. These triple wins have boasted them up to 11th with 14 points as whiles Ebusua Dwarfs languish at the bottom with 10 points.

Inter Allies stun Berekum Chelsea at home

Inter Allies welcomed Samuel Boadu’s men to town this midweek. On the back of beating Berekum Chelsea, this was one of the most anticipated duels considering the attacking firepower both sides possessed. The match didn’t disappoint as two of the country’s deadliest goal scorers Victorien Adebayor and Prince Opoku Agyemang were both on the score sheet but the Tarkwa based side came out victorious winning by 2-1. Kofi Babil was on the score sheet for the away side as well pushing them to 3rd with 20 points unlike Inter Allies dropping to 9th at the moment.

Karela United and Accra Hearts of Oak played out a goalless draw at the Akoon Community Park. Karela’s last five games (LDLWL) had been nothing short of dismal picking just a win,a lose to Ebusua Dwarfs was fresh on their minds. With Hearts of Oak coming to town, the home side needed to pick up maximum points to lift themselves up the table but it didn’t happen as planned as the match ended with no goals for either sides. Hearts have picked up 9 points from 6 away matches unlike playing at home. Karela are battling relegation, 17th with 10 points.

Accra Great Olympics suffered another home defeat on Thursday as they failed to stop Berekum Chelsea. The away team stood their ground to snatch a 1-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium thanks to a second-half free-kick from Richard Kisi Boateng.

Legon Cities shared spoils with King Faisal in Obuasi, both teams settled for a 1-1 draw. King Faisal are currently at the bottom of the table whiles Legon Cities are two places above the relegation zone.

Ghanaian fans crowded match venues all over the country in their numbers to support their beloved clubs, while others will be partying late into the night amidst their side’s victories others will retire to beds early hoping their next encounters provide positive results.

WAFA S. C were denied their fourth win of the season, in a one-one bore draw with embattled King Faisal, still winless in nine matches. The home side entered into this fixture after a string of losses and draws, hoping this match will cap their first win but an Ibrahim Abubakari goal in the 67th minute looked as though the away side had stolen all three points until a Mohammed Mustapha penalty in the 90th minute sent the home side into ruptures thus earning them a point in their relegation scrabble. WAFA will feel hurt the most, as they nearly stole a win, this draw marks their second in less than three days putting them 6th  temporarily. Wafa welcome Dreams FC whiles King Faisal travel away to Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park.

In other matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, two penalties in either half of the game ensured that Inter Allies and Legon Cities shared the spoils in a one-one draw. The home side drew first blood through sensational Victorien Adebayor, his eight in nine games only to be pegged back in the 75th minute through an Abdul Karim goal to end the match in a stalemate. Both sides won their midweek clashes, encouraged by that victory, they went at each other in a match that produced lots of end to end action, only to end in a draw.

Aduana Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak battled hard for supremacy but it ended in a stalemate as both sides bagged a point each. Aduana Stars had lost their midweek duel to Ebusua Dwarfs away, looking to pacify fans win a win but a determined Hearts of Oak who drew blank with Ashgold didn’t bend over easily. This draw puts the Ogya boys on 3rd ceding their second spot to Medeama and failing to topple Berekum Chelsea who lost away to Elmina Sharks by a heavy margin.

Bechem United failed to redeem themselves from a midweek loss as they drew Ebusua Dwarfs in an underwhelming performance at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park leaving fans in a sad state. . Ebusua Dwarfs after beating Aduana Stars and even better by a three-goal margin, produced a gallant display to pick up the point back to Cape Coast. Bechem are locked on 7th whiles  Ebusua Dwarfs drown in the relegation.

Meanwhile, an Amadou Dantani red card and Abdul Bashiru’s own goal marked the downfall of the “Still Believe” boys as they lost to Porcupine Warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Dawu Park. Dreams F. C were on a high after winning against Liberty Professionals but Maxwell Konadu’s charges put them in their place walking away with all three points back to Kumasi.

On the back of the playing out a goalless draw with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ashantigold were determined to grind positive results as they welcomed Liberty Professionals to the Ley Clay Stadium. An Appiah McCarthy goal was all but enough as they defended resolutely that solitary goal condemning the away side to back to back defeats in a week, lifting them up to 4th and Liberty Set to 13th closer to relegation.

A Benjamin Boateng inspired hattrick gave Elmina Sharks a resounding victory as they dispatched table-toppers Berekum Chelsea who managed a consolation through Kofi Owusu, his third of the season. The home side were faced with a daunting task playing Berekum Chelsea but they defied all odds to beat them at the Ndoum Stadium. Their fans will be particularly happy knowing that this victory will propel them to greater things moving forward but Berekum Chelsea will know that they have spared knowing that other results played in their favor.

Accra Great Olympics Olympics failed to record back to back victories in the ongoing league succumbing to a 1 – 2 defeat at the hands of Eleven Wonders, notching their second win in as many matches. Goals from Musa Sule and Salifu Ibrahim shot the away side into the lead before a Gladson Awako penalty soften the deficit for the home side.

One of the weekend’s derbies happened at the Akoon Community Park between, Karela United and Medeama SC. Both sides were on either half of the table needing wins to complement their already amassed ones, but a Diawisie Taylor goal, his third of the season in nine games gave the home side the earjy before one of the leagues top scorers, Prince Opoku Agyemang scored his fifth after coming from the suspension.
