After weeks of protracted rumors and speculations Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has secured a move to fellow Italian Serie A side, Cagliari on a free transfer after mutually partying ways with Inter earlier in the season.



The deal sees the Ghanaian, who was rumored to have attracted huge interest from clubs in Italy, Germany, and Turkey squash all those circling rumors after choosing to join Cagliari on a deal, which will expire after the current campaign elapses.

Asamoah, passed his medical this afternoon and is set to team up with fellow Blackstars player, Alfred Duncan, who also recently crossed from Fiorentina.

The 32-year-old’s experience will come good for his current side after stints with Torino, Udinese, Juventus, and Inter.

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is edging towards a winter move to Sampdoria after being released from fellow Italian outfit Inter Milan.

The versatile playmaker attracted huge interest from Europe (Hertha Berlin, Porto, Southampton, Fenerbahçe) in the shut summer transfer but none materialized.

However, new revelation reveals that Sampdoria manager Claudio Ranieri has talked up his aspirations of adding the talented player to his ranks in order to push for a top-half finish in the Italian Serie A as well as secure European qualification.

Asamoah is a dynamic, hardworking, energetic, versatile, and tactically intelligent player, who is primarily known for his pace, strength, stamina, and has outstanding technical characteristics.

He has plied most of his career days in the Italian Serie A, playing two hundred and seventy (270) times and scoring twelve (12) goals for Udinese, Juventus, and Inter Milan.

Italian based club Inter Milan are set to dispense the services off Kwadwo Asamoah at the end of the season, according to Calciomercato.com

The midfield gem is one of four players set to be shown the exit door after a disappointing spell with the club in the last few seasons. Diego Godin, Matias Vecino, and Sebastiano Esposito are the rest of the players.

Since his arrival at the club from Juventus some two seasons ago, he has managed only 40 appearances and a goal the remaining blighted by injuries.

Asamoah has practically spent a large chunk of his playing career in Italy, first with Udinese (2008-12) playing 114 times and scoring 8, moving to Juventus and playing 116 games and 4 goals during a six-year period before joining Inter Milan.

Though Asamoah is injury-ravaged most times, he is hardworking, versatile, tactically intelligent player and has an eye for a pass.

Bar injuries, the Ghanaian is a delight to watch when he is full operation connecting the dots in midfield as well as playing heartily on the wings of the field.

In the last few months, he has since had suitors in Turkish giants Fenerbahce and a couple of MLS clubs.

Kwadwo Asamoah registered an assist in their 4-0 win against Leece in their Serie A opener on Monday night.

The Ghanaian midfielder assisted their first goal of the night after feeding the ball to Marcelo Brozovic who opened the scoring with a stunning finish.

Stenfano Sensi scored the second for the home side as they finished the first half with a two-goal lead.

New record signing Romelu Lukaku scored the third before Antonio Candreva sealed the 4-0 win.

Kwadwo Asamoah was solid as he lasted the entire 90 minutes of the game.

Kwadwo Asamoah has confirmed that he will play in midfield for the Black Stars at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The 30-year-old’s possible playing role with the Black Stars at the tournament had become a major topic of discussion.

Asamoah, who made his breakthrough as a midfielder with Italian club Udinese and Ghana at the 2010 Africa Cup and Fifa World Cup, has played at left-back for most of the last six years.

“I’m a player that can play in so many roles on the field of play: I can be a midfielder, I can also support the attack, I can play at left-back and also left forward,” he told TV3.

“I spoke with the [Ghana] coach [James Appiah] and told him he knows the qualities that I have and what I can do for this national team.



“So we shared an idea and I told him he knows perfectly when I come to the midfield, I excel more than playing from the back because African football is totally different from [that of] Europe.”

Asamoah’s role on the left side of defence began during his time under Antonio Conte at Juventus.

At new club Internazionale, he is mainly deployed at the back.

“In Europe, the way we play depends on how the coach wants us to play but with African football, it’s more physical and there is no space, so with me playing from left-back, I will not find it easy,” Asamoah continued.

“So with what people know and what I know and what everyone knows, when it comes to the national team, I am always good when I play from the midfield so he also accepted and said ‘I will try and play you from the midfield’ but in any situation or any case when we need help from the left-back I’m always there.”



Asamoah’s only left back stint for Ghana was at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil where the Black Stars exited the competition in the group stage.

Ghana have been drawn against Cameroon, Benin, and Guinea-Bissau in the group stage of the upcoming Afcon.

Asamoah played full 90 minutes in the game after missing the previous game due to suspension.

The game was intriguing, Icardi almost opened the scoring after hitting an audacious strike straight from kick off and almost scored, but the ball hit the crossbar and went over.

Senegalese defender Khalidou Koulibaly was sent of in the 80th minute after collecting his second yellow card.

Lautaro Martinez was the hero as he scored in stoppage time to close the gap to five points between them and Napoli.

On Monday it was confirmed that he would be unavailable for the clash on Sunday by his club Inter Milan but the photos that emerged have caused more room for speculation as to the real reason.

It is believed that the presence of the Ayew brothers is the main reason for his withdrawal despite some truth to his injury claims.

Asamoah is unhappy with the return of the brothers to the team amid some superstition claims as well.

The veracity is still unclear but sources claim the presence of the duo has impeded his progress on the international stage in a country where superstition is very common.

Asamoah has been away from the national side for 4 years, returning only this year for the AFCON 2019 qualifier game against Kenya which Ghana lost and he played a bit part.

The Ayew’s last played for Ghana in 2017, in a world cup qualifier with Congo. They were supposed to be in the squad for the return leg in Brazzaville but they opted out of the squad following an injury to Andre with Jordan also suffering from stomach problems ahead of the trip to Congo.

It is quite strange that this could be the reason for his absence but if it is, could this be the last time Kwadwo Asamoah plays for the Black Stars?

Inter Milan ace Kwadwo Asamoah has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad for next week’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia due to recurrent knee injury, the Ghana Football Association has confirmed. 



The versatile player is said to have suffered a swollen knee after Sunday’s shock 4-1 defeat to Atalanta in the Serie A.

”The team begins camping in Kenya on November 12, 2018. The Normalization Committee wishes Kwadwo Asamoah a speedy recovery.”

FIFA Threaten To Ban Ghana From All Activities



Asamoah made a return to international football in September after a four-year self-imposed exile and featured in the 1-0 defeat to the Harambee Stars in the 2019 AFCON qualifier.

Last month, he was invited for the postponed double-header against Sierra Leone but did not feature in the friendly against Asante Kotoko.
