George Amoako who was relieved of his position few weeks ago, revealed publicly that the club is owing him five months’ salary.

Kwame Aboagye Mensah the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace stated that the Palace is not happy with the way George Amoako handled the issue.

“Manhyia Palace is not happy with the way George Amoako has handled the issue of his salaries in arrears, this issue has damaged the reputation of the club and for that matter Manhyia,” he said.

“He could have done that in a proper manner, it doesn’t augur well at all.”

“We are displeased with the way he has handled it, we are not happy with him. He could have written to Prof. Lydia Nkansah- committee and it would have settled the issue.”

Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko George Amoako has stated Asante Kotoko’s support for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidential aspirant, George Afriyie in the upcoming election.

The GFA election is on October 25, 2019, and the aspirants have been campaigning for weeks.

They have also been launching their manifestos with the Vetting Committee of the Normalisation Committee disqualifying one of the seven who filed to contest in the election.

George Afriyie, who was the Vice President of the GFA under the beleaguered former President, Kwasi Nyantakyi, out doored his manifesto last Saturday.

Kotoko’s CEO, who is also vying for one of the seats on the GFA’s Executive Council, declared the club’s support for George Afriyie at his manifesto launch in Sunyani.

“Kotoko [have] attended all the campaign launches, some by other members of the Kotoko family. I, as the Chief Executive of Kotoko, have the club’s support to endorse his candidature, and you don’t just endorse a candidature for endorsing sake, it means a lot” said the CEO.

Asante Kotoko CEO George Amoako warns against complacency https://www.saharafootball.net/asante-kotoko-ceo-george-amoako-warns-complacency/ https://www.saharafootball.net/asante-kotoko-ceo-george-amoako-warns-complacency/#respond Wed, 14 Aug 2019 06:33:08 +0000 http://www.saharafootball.net/?p=22504 Asante Kotoko CEO George Amoako warns against complacency

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asante Kotoko, George Amoako says the 3-2 loss to Kano Pillars has given the Porcupines the advantage to progress in the Champions League.

He, however, warns that complacency could be our undoing hence the resolve to eliminate that at all cost.

George Amoako told Kotoko Express App that, the club would do everything possible to throw Kano Pillars out of the competition when the second leg is played in Kumasi on August 25.

“It is a very good scoreline,” said the CEO, who led the Kotoko delegation to the Northern Nigerian state. “Playing in Kano, scoring two away goals and losing 3-2, puts us in a pole position to qualify, but we don’t need to be complacent” he cautioned.

“[We] certainly wouldn’t be because they are a good side, very aggressive, very strong and we need to work at it to get the results. I am talking about qualification. We would do everything possible to ensure just that. With this scoreline away; difference one with two away goals, qualification is more likely” he assured.

“We have to be able to swim with it. We are fully aware that situations like this could cause some complacency, but the assurance is that we wouldn’t give that any chance. We are focused and going to treat the second leg like the score was goalless” he stressed.

The 16, 000 capacity Sani Abacha Stadium was filled to the rafters. The venue was electrified by the loud cheers and jeers from the stands, a scene that George Amoako believes Kotoko supporters must replicate in the return encounter.

“They cheered their team to get those two quick goals,” he said. “We would have to get the same kind of atmosphere. We are even expecting a more charged atmosphere because we have more supporters. This is just a 16, 000 capacity stadium, Kumasi is 40,000 plus and we expect that the supporters would be there to ensure our victory and qualification.”

We’ve made good signings – Kotoko CEO George Amoako https://www.saharafootball.net/weve-made-good-signings-kotoko-ceo-george-amoako/ https://www.saharafootball.net/weve-made-good-signings-kotoko-ceo-george-amoako/#comments Sat, 20 Jul 2019 07:45:22 +0000 http://www.saharafootball.net/?p=22178 We’ve made good signings – Kotoko CEO George Amoako

Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko believes the club management have made good signings that will enable them to challenge for trophies in the upcoming season.

George Amoako was delighted with the performance of the new players that joined the club.

Luck, according to the CEO, is an essential component of football but that can only be relied on after the right things have been done.

“Luck counts in this work but before you can count on luck, you have to do the right thing. You should know what to do as the right thing before you ride on luck,” he explained.

“Some of us have been around for a long time and we know how Kotoko is managed. But last season, we didn’t have the luxury of time and for instance, some of us were not into club football for so we didn’t know too many players around.”

Highlighting what has been the difference in player recruitment this time compared to the previous season, the CEO said: “This year, we’ve had a whole season looking at other teams, other players and the players that were [picked] by the technical team for us to recruit.

“Today, everybody sees them playing and they’re amazed. They were carefully chosen for the various departments and we are only praying that it will continue like this. I am sure the applause you hear at the training ground from the supporters isn’t for George Amoako but rather, for the players who have been exhibiting their skills on the field and we can only be grateful to God”.

Asante Kotoko have signed several players as they prepare for the upcoming season, these players include Justice Blay Kelvin Andoh, Didi Arnauld Alexis, George Abege, Patrick Yeboah, Richard Arthur, Empem Dacosta, Kwame Baah, Kouyate, and Traore.

The Chief Executive officer George Amoako of Asante Kotoko has revealed that the club might lose three good players, and that’s why a lot of signings have been made.

George Amoako stated that four players are likely to leave the club following the arrival of new signings.

“We are losing the services of key players like Fatawu, Yacouba, Kwame Bonsu and Daniel Darkwah. It’s likely all of them might go. We have to plan to replace them. That is why so many names are being bundled around”, George Amoako told Oyerepa FM.

Asante Kotoko have already submitted their squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign the three players are reportedly included in the list.

George Amoako says management will not renege on its efforts to improve the Asante Kotoko technical team.

The Asante Kotoko Chief Executive officer (CEO) insists that every decision they take on the coaching department is geared at responding to the lessons picked during the club’s last CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Rumours emerged on Wednesday that Asante Kotoko had sacked coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor.

The development has been met with mixed reactions from the sports fraternity.

George Amoako, though not confirming the rumour, maintains that management would not be bothered by the jabs from people over decisions they take to improve the team.

“We need to enhance our technical capabilities, but people have begun throwing bombs.”

“Whether they throw bombs or not, we will have to do the right thing and get the performance of this team improved. This is key, and we are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that.”

“I spoke a lot after our African campaign and told the world about the lessons we learned. I said we would learn from those lessons. People should not throw bombs if we are addressing those lessons.”

CONFIRMED: Asante Kotoko will play Hearts of oak; Read full club statement https://www.saharafootball.net/confirmed-asante-kotoko-will-play-hearts-oak-read-full-club-statement/ https://www.saharafootball.net/confirmed-asante-kotoko-will-play-hearts-oak-read-full-club-statement/#comments Wed, 12 Jun 2019 08:12:15 +0000 http://www.saharafootball.net/?p=20942 CONFIRMED: Asante Kotoko will play Hearts of oak; Read full club statement

Kotoko have rescinded the decision to boycott Sunday’s Normalisation Committee Tier-One semi-final clash against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The decision, the club says, is ‘firm and unconditional’ and taken in the supreme interest of Ghana football as it resolves to end the public outcry that has greeted the issue.

A letter signed for the Kotoko Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George Amoakoh, by the Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq), and delivered to the Committee on Tuesday states, however, that the decision is not born out of defeatism and cowardice.

“We hereby notify you of our firm decision to rescind our earlier decision to withdraw from the Tier-One Special Competition as was communicated to you in our letter dated 3rd June 2019,” the letter reads.

“We have arrived at this decision in the interest of Ghana football and to put an end to the public outcry over the issue.”

Kotoko are convinced that the NC has been unfair in insisting that the game is held in Accra despite being entitled to only 30 percent of the gate proceeds.

The Porcupines withdrew from the game last Tuesday after the NC failed to grant the plea for a one-off tie on a neutral ground with the proceeds shared equally among the two clubs.

“We still strongly believe that we presented genuine and legitimate concerns through proper and laid down procedures which ought to have been dealt with in a manner that would not have brought things this far. Hence, our current position should not be misconstrued as defeatism and cowardice.”

“You may recall that our initial petition was in support of a double-legged semi-final match and this was a reference to a provision in the regulations. Apart from ensuring fairness, the clubs would have made more economic gains out of this format.”

“Alternatively, we indicated our support for a one-off game at a neutral ground with an equal sharing of gate proceeds which was also in the spirit of fairness and equality.”

“To our surprise, both suggestions were not given the needed attention, compelling us to withdraw from the competition in the circumstance. There was however a breakthrough after we had been impressed upon by the organisers to accept a one-off game at the Accra Sports Stadium with an equal sharing of proceeds between the clubs which we agreed and requested for a letter to that effect, but has still not been delivered.”

“In a very strange twist of events, your outfit seems not to budge on its earlier decision not to address any of our concerns and we do not intend to belabor the issue and have consequently come to this conclusion unconditionally,” the letter concludes.
