Liberty Professionals was the only away side that defied odds to post a narrow victory over Eleven Wonders at the Obuasi Ley Clay Stadium, their second win of the second round thus far in the league.

The recent appointment of Silas Tetteh seems to have breathed a new lease of life into the Dansoman based club, and it’s no doubt that, the lads have quickly adapted to the experienced trainer’s tactics.

This newfound form has definitely sunk into the boys and according to Evans Owusu, who recently switched camps from Kotoko expressed happiness with the way things are slowly folding for his new side.

“We will thank God for the important victory today, currently the level of seriousness and motivation is beyond measure”.

“It’s sad that we have moved away from Carl Reindorff but our new venue (Sogakope Red Bull Arena) is a wonderful pitch to play on, hopefully, the results will start coming, this is our second win from three matches so far in the second round”.

When queried on his performance since moving from Kotoko to his new side, Liberty, he remarked “The shift from Kotoko to Liberty hasn’t been easy but I am happy to have settled in quickly, together with my new teammates, we’ll fight to stay afloat in the league”.  he told Saharafootball.Net

Evans Owusu has been an integral figure for Liberty featuring in five games so far.

Young defender Evans Owusu tells his sad story after aiding the Porcupine Warriors to victory over eternal rivals, Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The two giants needed spot-kicks to settle the Tier One semi-final tie after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, as the quest for supremacy and the ticket to the title match rolled on before a massive crowd.

The defender, who converted his spot-kick, recounted how he almost lost hope in pursuing his dream of becoming a professional footballer during what he described as ‘hard times.’

“I never dreamt of this sudden rise in my career,” says Evans Owusu who joined Asante Kotoko straight from Accra-based division-two side, Charity Stars.

“It got to a time where I lost hope and nearly gave up on football as the hardships were too much to take. I lost my father and there was no help from anywhere”, continues the youngster who has never played in the Division-One.

“I am so grateful to God now for how far He has brought me. I was the only second division player to be included in our Africa squad and here I am playing in the ‘El Classico’ against Hearts.”

“I can only be thankful to God,” the left-back tells Kotoko Express App
