Ghana Black Comets beat Guam 7-0 to maintain perfect record at FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival
Ghana’s Black Comets continued their impressive run at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, with a commanding 7-0 victory over Guam to maintain their perfect record in Group W.
The win marks Ghana’s third consecutive victory in the competition, taking their group-stage tally to 18 goals scored as they remain top of the standings.
The Black Comets began their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan before recording a convincing 7-1 win against Myanmar. They followed up with another dominant display against Guam, with Abdul Latif Sa-ad, Emmanuel Afful, Raymond Agyapong and Nathaniel Owusu among the scorers. Afful netted twice, while Abdul Aziz Issah also found the back of the net as Ghana secured another clean sheet.
Ghana will next face Bahamas and Kazakhstan on Monday, October 26, as they seek to extend their winning run.
The tournament, running from October 24 to 30, is the first edition of FIFA’s U-15 World Cup and Festival, bringing together 189 member associations in a format designed to promote grassroots football, learning and cultural exchange.
Unlike the traditional World Cup, the competition features eight-a-side football, with matches played over two 20-minute halves on reduced-size pitches. Teams compete in a round-robin qualification phase before being placed into six performance tiers according to their results.
No team is eliminated. Instead, all participants continue playing, with winners crowned in each tier and the Tier A winner recognised as the overall champion.
The festival offers young players valuable international experience while encouraging skill development, fair play and interaction with different football cultures.
With three wins from three matches, Ghana’s Black Comets have made a strong statement in Baku. Their next two fixtures will provide another opportunity to build momentum as they pursue success in the tournament and further challenge for the tournament’s top-tier title.
