The Ghanaian side touched down in Mauritius as preparations continue for Thursday’s opening leg, with the Black Queens aiming to take an important step towards the next stage of the Olympic qualifying competition.

Ghana received a bye in the opening round and were subsequently drawn against the winner of the Mauritius-Djibouti tie. Mauritius advanced from that contest to set up the two-legged encounter with the Black Queens.

The first leg is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, with Ghana hosting the return fixture on Tuesday, October 13.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has included two members of the Black Princesses in the senior squad, with Rabiatu Maltiti of Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Margaret Agyapomaa of Police Ladies receiving their first Black Queens call-ups.

Former Black Maidens captain Mukarama Abdulai is also back in the squad after a lengthy injury absence. The forward has previously represented the Black Queens and now returns to the senior setup for the crucial Olympic qualifiers.

The squad also retains a strong core of experienced players, including several members of Ghana’s 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations team.

With the opening leg now just days away, the Black Queens will be looking to translate their preparations into a strong performance in Mauritius before returning home for the decisive second leg.

Nebojsa Kapor disappointed with goalless draw against Dreams FC https://www.saharafootball.net/nebojsa-kapor-disappointed-with-goalless-draw-against-dreams-fc/ https://www.saharafootball.net/nebojsa-kapor-disappointed-with-goalless-draw-against-dreams-fc/#respond Sat, 03 Oct 2026 17:24:13 +0000 https://www.saharafootball.net/?p=47985 Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor expressed frustration after the goalless draw game against Dreams FC.

The two teams with contrasting fortunes went head-to-head for supremacy at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The Phobians controlled more of the possession and created the greater number of chances but failed to break the deadlock against a resolute Dreams defence.

Reflecting on the performance, Kapor said: “We made a lot of technical mistakes in the final third in the first half. We tried to fix them after the break, but it didn’t work. Hopefully, we can address these issues before our next match.”

The result leaves Hearts with eight points from five games, while bottom-side Dreams earned a hard-fought second point of the season. Both teams will now look to sharpen their attacking play as the campaign continues.

The Still Believe Boys, rooted near the bottom of the table with just one point from their opening four games, produced a disciplined defensive display to frustrate the more fancied Phobians.

Hearts enjoyed the better of the possession and created more dangerous attacks, registering four shots on target to Dreams’ two. Yet clear-cut chances were at a premium. Both sides picked up a yellow card, while Dreams earned the majority of the corners as they looked to spring counter-attacks.

The result extends Dreams’ winless start to the 2026/27 campaign but provides a valuable point against one of the league’s stronger sides. For Hearts, it is a missed opportunity to climb higher after suffering their first defeat of the season in the previous round.
