Yacouba strikes late to rescue a point for Kotoko

Asante Kotoko were held at home by Al Hilal Omdurman to a 1-1 draw in Kumasi on Sunday, and this reduces their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Asante Kotoko started the game in a cautious manner as the visitors dominated the opening minutes of the game and forced Kotoko to play from the back.

Al-Hilal opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Waleed Bakhiet Hamid connected with a nice cross from Abdellatif Boya to put his team in front.

Emmanuel Gyamfi had the opportunity to restore parity a few minutes before half time but the chance went begging as the attacker blast the ball over the bar.

Kotoko grabbed the equalizer through Sogne Yacouba after the striker heads home Stephen Nyarko’s cross to restore parity for his side.

Asante Kotoko will travel to Zambia next week to play Zesco United in their final group game.
