Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva has admitted that winning the Premier League title against rivals Manchester United would be an additionally “special” moment for the club.
With the Premier League title seemingly wrapped up for the Sky Blues as 16 points separates the runaway leaders from their eternal rivals.
Should results pan out for Pep Guardiola’s side, then City could clinch the title as early as the beginning of April, as the club lock horns with Jose Mourinho’s men at the Etihad on April 7.
The prospect of a derby-day triumph is one the City players will be relishing, no more so than Bernardo Silva.
“It would be special for the fans, because there’s a big rivalry between the two clubs,” Silva told reporters according to Goal.
“We just want to win the competition because it means a lot, and if you can win it against a big rival, it’s even more special. If you’d told me in August we’d arrive in March with a 16-point advantage over second place, I wouldn’t have believed you.
“So it means we’re doing an amazing job.
“Normally the Premier League is so competitive, with six clubs fighting for the title. So to have so many points and be so far ahead of the other opponents is great.”
