Karela 2-1 Aduana:

Karela United continued their excellent home form as they claimed a 2-1 win against Aduana Stars on matchday 13 of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League Wednesday.

The Passioners were eager to return to winning ways after losing to Liberty Professionals in their previous fixture before the league proceeded on a two-weeks break.

Despite having a huge share of the match possession, the home side failed to break the deadlock as the game went into half-time.

Continuing their impressive display in the first half, Karela found much spaces in the Aduana defence and Donald Wellington fired them in front from close in the 65th minute. The Sierra Leone attacker has been exceptional for his side since joining at the start of the season.

With the Passioners cruising away with yet another home win, Aduana Stars woke from their slumber after conceding the goal and striker Yahaya Mohammed found the equalizer for the Fire Boys. 1-1, Aduana needed a good scoreline to appease their fans after having an abysmal 3-3 stalemate against Raja Casablanca in the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup group stage.

But for Karela, their Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park will not provide the result Aduana needed. Wellington, again, popped up with a 93rd minute winner to send Aduana to a third straight defeat in all competitions.

Jean Vital Ourega scopped the NASCO Man of the Match award. This is the Ivorian’s second win since matchday 1 against Medeama SC.

The victory has granted the Western Region based side 21 points from 13 games as they move to third. Aduana are far from defending their league title as they now lie 15th on the league log with 11 points from contests.

Kotoko 2-0 Elmina Sharks:

Asante Kotoko secured a 2-0 victory against Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on matchday 13 of the 2017/18 Zylofon Cash Premier League.

The game was deemed a tough one for the Porcupines – the Elmina based side has not lost in their last 10 duels.

The first half started with Kotoko looking dangerous and chasing for an early lead. The Reds’ new guys, who signed just a week ago, were eager to help their new side make it two wins in their last two encounters.

But credit to the Central Region side; their efforts in the first half of the encounter was enough to energise the match. Lots of end-to-end action, decent chances from both sides and excellent wing play from both sides were not enough as the game ended 0-0 at half time.

In the second part of the contest, the hungrier side probed and the unmarked Emmanuel Gyamfi broke the deadlock on the 62nd minute, after connecting to a cross from the flanks with a quick header.

Kotoko then dominated the fixture with key members Jordan Opoku and Burkinabe import Sougne Yacouba handling affairs. On the other side of the battle, Sharks captain Daniel Crenstil, top marksmen Benjamin Tweneboah and Felix Addo were facing tough times.

The Porcupines later summed their display with another goal as Sougne Yacouba headed in a Jordan Opoku cross on the 77th minute. The Burkinabe forward had a wee afternoon. His performance was capped off with a NASCO Man of the Match award.

Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 AshGold

Ebusua Dwarfs clinched a 2-0 win against AshantiGold in Cape Coast on matchday 13 of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League Wednesday.

Goals from Amos Kofi Nkrumah and Aikins Asante were enough to hand the Central Region side their first win in five matches.

The league break two weeks ago seems to have reshaped the Crabs who looked tactically disciplined and were impressive especially in the midfield. They forced for an early lead through returnee striker Bright Lukman but the former Hearts striker’s strike could only find the cross bar.

The kept their high intensity but Ashgold defended well, maintaining the score of the clash, 0-0 at half time.

After the break, Ashgold had an arduous task in attack as Dwarfs showcased some balanced football.

How organized the Crabs looked granted them the first goal of the encounter through new signing Amos Nkrumah on the 59th minute. With the lead now intact, the Cape Coast based side kept their composure while their opponents probed for the equalizer.

But as the Miners pushed for parity, they made mistakes at the back; Dwarfs were awarded a penalty through one of the mishaps and that was expertly converted by Aikins Asante on the 66th minute.

Dwarfs are now placed 14th on the league log while Ashantigold lie 4th with an outstanding match in hand.

Berekum Chelsea 2-1 Medeama Sc

Berekum Chelsea halted Medeama’s run with a 2-1 victory on matchday 13 of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League at Golden City Park.

The hosts opened the scoring on the 15th minute through Latif Salifu. Stephen Amankona produced some dazzling moves in the Medeama area before finding Salifu who brilliantly fired home.

Medeama replied through Ghalca G6 sensation Agyenim Boateng on the 28th minute – his first goal of the season.

But seconds later, Berekum Chelsea restored their lead with Zackaria Fuseini’s effort and that was also the Blues midfielder’s first goal this season.

Berekum Chelsea held onto their lead for the remaining minutes of the encounter, ending the league leaders’ four game unbeaten run.

Despite the loss, Medeama maintain their top spot while the Blues move to 9th on the league log.

Wa All Stars 1-0 Inter Allies

Inter Allies were 1-0 winners against Wa All Stars at the Malik Jabir Park on matchday 13 of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League.

Midfielder Michel Otou’s 69th minute penalty goal was enough for the Capelli Boys to grab their first away win of the season.

Wa All Stars’ poor form in the league looks like a never-ending one; prior to this game, the Northern Blues had won just once out of their 11 contests. And the loss to Allies at home casts a dark spell at their relegation survival battle.

Their opponents found their rhythm very early into the game as Chekezie Uwandu Alozie who was playing his first game of the season tormented the defenders.

All Stars looked pale in the first half, hardly posing much threats to the Allies defence. Wahid Mumuni on two occasions tried his luck from distance but Saed Salifu was too quick to save all opportunities. The first half ended goalless.

The hosts who were quiet in the first half were good in the second half. They started the half on a fine note and pushed men forward for the opener but Allies also showed composure in defense and thwarted all efforts from their opponents with Saed Salifu once again parrying a lot of balls away.

On the 68th minute, the Capelli Boys were awared a penalty. Dan Amanfo picked Chekezie Uwandu Alozie in the box and the attacker looked clean on goal but he was brought down in the box after rounding the goalkeeper.

Michel Otou calmly converted from the spot on the 69th minute, registering his first goal for the Greater Accra side.

Wa All Stars  heaped a lot of pressure on the Allies but the visitors stood firm at the back and held on to win their first away game in sixty matches.

Inter Allies goalkeeper Saed Salifu was named the NASCO Man of the match.

The Capelli Boys are now 5th on the league table while Wa All Stars remain bottom of the log with just 7 points with a game in hand.

Dreams FC 1-0 Wa All Stars

Dreams FC recorded a 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders in Week 13 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League at the Dawu Park on Wednesday.

The Still Believers were made to suffer for possession in the first half of the game as the visitors deployed a defensive approach.

The host kept pushing by creating half of chances but the defensive set-up of Enos Adipah’s side stood to test as they thwarted every threat that was thrown to them by the hosts.

Despite their defensive solidity, Dreams found the back of the net after defender Issah Yakubu whose thumping header beat goalkeeper John Moosie from close range.

Dreams continued to pile pressure on the visitors in the aim of getting the cushioning but failed to add to the tally until referee Solomon Mordey blew his whistle for the end of the game.
