WATCH: Jordan Ayew Brace Leads Black Stars To Victory Over Ethiopia

A brace from Jordan Ayew was enough to help the Black Stars

A brace from Jordan Ayew was enough to help the Black Stars get back to winning ways against Ethiopia in the AFCON 2019 qualifier in Adis-Ababa.

Ghana went into the game needing a positive result to enhance their chances of making it to the AFCON 2019 in Cameroon next year after suffering a set back in their game with Kenya in September. They also had their game against Sierra Leone cancelled due to suspension by FIFA.

Coach Kwesi Appiah started with Jordan Ayew and Levante stirker Emmanuel Boateng leading the line. Asamoah Gyan was resigned to the bench.

The stars began brightly netting as early as the fourth minute when Jordan Ayew fired from what seemed to be an acute angle. The Crystal Palace man had been out of the the team for a while and marked his return with a much needed goal to calm any nerves Ghana had.

Ghana controlled most of the game although they were not leading possession wise.

Jordan added his second goal from the spot after Emmanuel Boateng was brought down in the box following a beautiful outside of the foot pass from Andre Ayew who was also making his return to the squad after sometime out.

Ghana ended the first half with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The second half was more of the same from the first with Ethiopia threatening in flashes but produced nothing that could hurt Ghana in the end. Richard Ofori was called on many occasions and his saves proved vital in securing the three points for Ghana who face Kenya in their final game in Kumasi to decide who wins the group.
